KIMAMA CAFE BEPPU

Located only 3 minutes away from Beppu Station on foot (take mountain side exit). Cute little Cafe in a multi use community space. Beautiful decorations of hand crafted bamboo art. Food is a organic, traditional Japanese rice based dishes that leave both filled and feeling healthy. Owner is super friendly and speaks great Japanese and English. There's a great coffee shop across the street that partners with them to provide excellent coffee as well! Great spot to spend a chill morning waiting for attractions to open or before you catch your train out of Beppu

Stopped in on a rainy day for breakfast. The shared business space is really endearing and interesting and the way Yuna put care into explaining each dish made us feel like we were at a private high end dining experience. I loved it. Had the rice porridge with picked vegetables and the smoothie, both were light and delicious!!

Loved visiting KIMAMA during my visit to Beppu, the owner is so friendly and hospitable! The food was delicious and heathy as well as having gluten free and vegan options available. This was my first stop upon arriving in Beppu and was the perfect way to start. The owner also speaks perfect English, so you can visit with ease even if you do not speak Japanese! It is located is a very cute community space, a collection of multiple shops of local artisans and craftsmen. I had the brown rice red bean set with pickles and egg as well as soymilk soup (seasonal) and a buckwheat smoothie as well as an iced coffee. All delicious and not too heavy! Update: came back again and just as good, with a different daily menu!

Very chill and welcoming atmosphere. Since owner can speak both Japanese and English, there’s no language issue with conversation. We had ¥1,000 and ¥1,350 sets. It was absolutely healthy and delicious! Especially, eggs were amazing. Don’t forget to order drinks after your meal:)

The ingredients are organic and the taste is comforting. The smoothies are tasty due to the natural ingredients. The shitake mushroom porridge, bamboo porridge and ume boshi porridge are yummy! The price is a little on the high side for breakfast but it's worth a visit for the yummy and comforting taste. The sweet owner also explains the ingredients well and introduce us to ingredients of beppu oita.

We came to this café for breakfast, the lady who welcome us was super nice and welcoming The food was very tasty and nutritious ! I felt in love with the morning curry. I highly recommend the vegan buckwheat and soy milk smoothie !!! She spoke english fluently and an english menu is available.

Kimama was the highlight of our time in Beppu. It is a small unassuming restaurant located within an artist collective, which was a wonderful surprise when we entered. The food and service were outstanding. Everything was made with care and tasted delicious. We enjoyed the buckwheat smoothie, the rice/porridge bowls for breakfast, banana cake, and coffee. Organic salad was not on the menu, and was delicious! Food and drinks were served in handmade pottery and bamboo utensils and chopsticks made by a local bamboo artist. We even got to join a ping pong class that happened to take place while dining. Highly recommend!

The most delightful way to start a morning, freshly prepared yummy and healthy porridge for breakfast! They have 4 different kinds of porridge, including a bamboo porridge that is processed in their in-house factory. We love the friendly service and delicious meal in the cafe.
